Why barrier-damaged skin needs more than oil
When the skin barrier is compromised, it loses water more easily. This can leave skin feeling rough, stingy, inflamed and reactive. Oils and balms can soften and protect, but they do not replace water-based hydration. This is why many people use heavy balms and still feel dry underneath.
A proper barrier-supportive tallow routine should include humectants, soothing ingredients, barrier lipids and gentle cleansing. This combination helps skin feel more stable over time.
Step 1: Cleanse without stripping
Barrier-damaged skin should never feel squeaky clean. Choose a gentle cleanser that removes buildup without leaving skin tight. If your skin is extremely reactive, cleanse once daily at night and use plain water in the morning.
Step 2: Hydrate with a mist
Apply Botanical Mist after cleansing while the skin is still slightly damp. This step gives the skin water-based hydration using ingredients such as tremella mushroom, aloe, glycerin, panthenol, chamomile, rose and traditional Chinese herbal extracts.
Step 3: Repair with a barrier serum
Barrier Repair Serum is designed for skin that feels dry, rough, inflamed or compromised. It uses chamomile water, jojoba, cucumber seed oil, urea, ectoin, aloe and in-house Chinese herbal extracts including Tremella, Gotu Kola, Fu Ling and Bai Ji to support hydration, comfort and resilience.
Step 4: Moisturise with an emulsified tallow cream
Finish with Qi Crème if your skin is sensitive, reactive or prone to congestion. Choose Jing Crème if your skin is dry, mature or more depleted. Both are emulsified tallow moisturisers, which means they combine hydration and lipid nourishment in a cream texture rather than a heavy balm-only format.

How long does it take to repair the skin barrier?
Some people feel comfort within days, but visible barrier improvement takes consistency. If your skin has been through strong actives, harsh cleansing or ongoing irritation, give your routine several weeks before judging. The key is to stop constantly changing products and avoid adding strong exfoliants while your skin is trying to stabilise.
Why Yinera uses tallow with Chinese herbal extracts
Yinera’s routine is inspired by Traditional Chinese Medicine and modern barrier-supportive skincare. Instead of relying on essential oils or fragrance, we make whole plant extracts in-house and pair them with grass-fed tallow, humectants, ceramides, oils and gentle emulsifiers. The result is a routine designed for skin that needs calm, comfort and nourishment.
